  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas. Mash them in a bowl until coarse.
  2. Mix in ground cumin, black pepper, sea salt, minced green onions, garlic, flour, and an egg until well combined.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape mixture into patties and fry for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. For the yogurt sauce, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced dill, garlic, and sea salt in a bowl.
  6. Serve warm patties with the chilled yogurt sauce.
