  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or self-raising flour)
  • 1 cup porridge oats
  • 125 g butter (cold)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C/375F. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. In the prepared dish, combine apples with flour, sugars, spices, and lemon juice.
  3. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cold butter, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Spread the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving warm.
