  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 2 cups thinly sliced or shredded corned beef
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups drained sauerkraut
  • 1 cup Thousand Island or Russian dressing
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for greasing)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Arrange half of the rye bread in a single layer at the bottom of the dish.
  3. Layer half of the corned beef, then half of the Swiss cheese followed by half of the sauerkraut. Spread half of the dressing on top.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to set layers.
