Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl; let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix in sugar, egg, yolk, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add flour and salt until slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead in blue food coloring until evenly distributed. Let rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1½ hours.
  4. Prepare the filling by combining softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed cookies, and mini chocolate chips.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, roll tightly from one side, and cut into 12 pieces.
  6. Let the rolls rise again in a greased dish for about 30–45 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes.
  7. Make the cream cheese icing by beating together softened cream cheese and butter; mix in powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  8. Drizzle icing over warm rolls before serving.
