  • 2 large yellow onions
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Optional: breadcrumbs for topping

  1. Slice onions into even pieces and caramelize them in a skillet with butter and olive oil over medium heat for about 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.

  4. Gradually add heavy cream and milk while stirring continuously until smooth.
